Tattoo Questions We Get The Most
How can I make an appointment?
Please email us at hello@upside.tattoo and include the following information:
A brief description of your idea
Reference/inspiration photos
Clear photos of the area where you would like to dedicate your tattoo
Your preferred tattoo artist, if any
Once we receive your inquiry our consultant will reach out to you to initiate a consultation.
Can I bring a friend to accompany me to my appointment?
In order to maintain our calm and client-focused environment, we do not permit guests.
What is your minimum rate?
All of our artists work with only one client per day for a flat rate. The rate will vary by artist. If you have a budget you’re looking to stick to, please include that in your inquiry as well.
Are deposits required in order to book?
Yes, we require a 50% deposit for each session booked. The deposit goes toward the cost of the session. All deposits are non-refundable.
What if I need to reschedule?
Deposits are valid for one calendar year from the date the deposit was paid. All appointments are eligible for one reschedule, given at least 14 days notice.
How much for a sleeve?
The cost of a sleeve will vary widely based on multiple factors, including the artist, final design, and level of detail.
It is important to understand that sleeves are large projects that are completed over a longer period of time. We want our clients to feel confident with their chosen artist and be committed to the process.
To get an estimate, please email hello@upside.tattoo and we’ll get to know your project idea in detail.
How many sessions do sleeves take?
Please keep in mind that these are estimates and this is subject to change. There is no way to predict with 100% certainty the amount of sessions a tattoo can take due to a variety of factors. Some general estimates:
Full arm: about 6-8 sessions
Upper/lower half arm: about 2-3 sessions
Full leg sleeves: about 8-10 sessions
Upper half leg sleeves: about 4-5 sessions
Lower half leg sleeves: about 3-4 sessions
How long is a session?
The length of a session is dependent on many factors such as location of the tattoo, how well the client sits per their pain tolerance, and how best to proceed on a larger scale project.
Our shop hours are 10:30am - 8:00pm. We ask that you keep the remainder of your evening clear in case your artist require additional time on your tattoo.
What is the consultation process like?
After you submit your inquiry, our consultant will reach out to you to initiate a consultation and discuss your tattoo project. We’ll have some necessary details locked down and schedule a time to speak with you on the phone so that you may further expand on your vision.
Once you are ready to schedule and agreed on a date, we will coordinate a time for you to have a creative call with your artist, either by Facetime or Zoom, about 1-2 weeks before your appointment. In this call, you’ll have the opportunity to virtually meet your artist, work out the details of your tattoo, and collaborate with your ideas. This is the time to convey any stories or meaning you have in receiving this tattoo, and really have a say on what you like, don’t like, must haves, what you’re open to and what you’re not. Once there is a clear understanding of how to move forward, the artist will proceed into their design phase.
Can I see the design before deciding if I want to get it tattooed?
We do not provide mock-ups. Your artist will reveal the final design the day of your appointment and work with you if there are any tweaks. You, the client, will always have the final approval.
Do you take walk-ins?
We do not accept walk-ins. We are an appointment only private studio; this allows our artists to dedicate their full energy and attention to their booked clients.
Do you tattoo other artists’ work?
Our artists do not replicate other artists’ work. They are happy to use these as inspiration and create their own version of a tattoo that will be unique to you.
Do you do cover-ups?
Cover-ups are assessed on a case by case basis. Some cover-ups are feasible while others may require laser removal therapy. If you are interested in a cover-up, please email photos of the tattoo(s) you would like covered up to hello@upside.tattoo so our team can review and let you know their recommendations.
A tattoo I got with another artist has faded. Can you touch it up?
Our artists do not work on existing tattoos.
Does your shop offer piercings?
We do not offer piercings in our shop.
