This is an exciting time and we thank you, wholeheartedly, for trusting us in marking your body and creating a connection together. Tattooing is not only our passion, but our life force as well. This is your time to undergo an evolution as you’ll have our family’s full support and guidance. We look forward to collaborating and having an amazing experience with this special moment!  

Upside Tattoo is a shared community space. Our home is your home and we’d like you to be comfortable and prepared for your tattoo experience. 

During the week leading up to your appointment:  

• Take care of your body. Eat a clean diet of smaller, more frequent meals when possible. We want to avoid that feeling of being full and lethargic during your tattoo experience. 

• Reduce caffeine, avoid alcohol, drink more water (at least 1 gallon a day), and get plenty of rest. This will allow you to ease into your tattoo, reduce redness, swelling, and irritation.

• Take care of your skin. Lotion the areas to be tattooed as this will soften the skin and allow for easier application of your tattoo. If you are not used to shaving any body hair on the areas to be tattooed, please do not shave to avoid cuts and razor bumps. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent sunburn.  

Appointment Day:  

The day has come! 

Please dress in clean, loose, comfortable clothing and prepare to bring extra layers in case you need to adjust your comfort level. Make sure your clothing allows for full unobstructed accessibility to the area. Depending on the area of placement, we may advise more specific attire. It is appreciated for you to come showered and groomed.

We are located between the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant and Teapioca. We have white shades on our windows, and our only signage is on the door. Our doors are open during business hours but for weekend appointments they remain locked, so please knock or send a text on arrival and someone will welcome you in.

When you arrive, we will have an area for your shoes. You’ll also have a designated place for your belongings and an area to settle into where you will be getting tattooed. 

All refreshments including snacks, water, tea, and lunch will be provided to you throughout the day.

Upside Tattoo emphasizes appointments rather than walk-ins to provide our undivided attention to you. As such, extra guests are not permitted. Please have all electronic devices silenced and stored away, including books, headphones, and other distractions. Our number (512) 592-0808 can be provided as an emergency contact if anyone needs to reach you during your session. We have access to fresh air if you need to step outside at any point.
